        Ans: Skimming is reading a text quickly to get a general idea about the text. Scanning is a reading technique used to find specific information quickly.

        Ans : ESP stands for English for Specific Purpose.

(g) What is approach in language teaching?

        Ans : An approach is a set of correlative assumptions dealing with the nature of language and the nature of language learning and teaching. It is the theory following which a method is developed.

(h) What is SLA?

        Ans : SLA stands for Second Language Acquisition.

(i) What is ‘Scaffolding’?

        Ans : In education, scaffolding refers to a variety of instructional techniques used to move students progressively toward stronger understanding and greater independence in the learning process.

 (j) What is the aim of GTM?

        Ans: There are two main goals of GTM. One is to develop students' reading ability to a level where they can read literature in the target language. The other is to develop students' general mental discipline.

 (k) What is meant by LAD?

        Ans : LAD stands for Language Acquisition Device.

        Ans : PPP means presentation, production and practice. It is an elegant methodology for teaching English as a Foreign Language (EFL) to students of all ages and ability levels.
